Why 'Play MST3K for Me?'

Why 'Play MST3K for Me'?

The Celluloid Godparent of 'Fatal Attraction' was a Clint Eastwood film about a radio DJ with a very unhealthy fan following, and it was called 'Play Misty for Me'.  Fangirl with the nightly request of the song 'Misty', who is played by Jessica Walters, meets her idolized DJ (Eastwood), seduces same, and then decides she is his Number One Fan and that he will have no other fangirls before her.  Hmmmm, might also be a First Celluloid Cousin to 'Misery', comes to that.  As a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, I always thought of that old flick when people started calling themselves 'Misties'.  Just because of the similar phrase sound, not because the MST3K folks were homicidal fandomphiles run amok.  Well, not mostly.  So now you know how twisty my musings can be, pop-culture-wise.  Every once in a while, a notion like the one above strikes my fancy and seems fun to share.  Other times, a notion strikes that ricochets around my head and has nowhere to go.  I plan to use this blog on an infrequent, non-scheduled manner as airborne  idea/notion berm; somewhere to fire off those ideas and set them down for the amusement, disagreement, or scrutiny of others.  May you find something here that makes you smile and that improves your day, even if it's just for a moment.
